Reconciliation Week 2023 - Free Resource
Reconciliation is all about working together and we have teamed up with one of our favourite allies, Aaron Johnston from Mr J’s Learning Space to bring you an amazing resource for Reconciliation Week this year.
This year’s theme is all about encouraging kids to speak up and continue the work of those before them to bring about change. I love it for so many reasons but mostly because it is an opportunity for all Australians to reflect on how they can use their voice for good. It asks us all to think about everything we know about change and change makers and share our ideas about change loud and proud!
Broadcasts your students’ reconciliation messages to the world with a sea of megaphones
Sea of hands’ have been used for over 25 years to raise awareness of the need for reconciliation, and encourage support for reconciliation initiatives. This year we want to amplify the ideas of a generation by sharing their reconciliation messages in a sea of megaphones.
Download our free worksheet below and once students have created their messages and cut them out, display them together to create a powerful statement. You can display your completed megaphones on a wall or secure to a spike (or skewer) to create a powerful installation in your playground.
If you want some tips on creating a deadly installation, ANTAR have a guide to creating a sea of hands that you can download from https://antar.org.au/resources/soh-how-to-guide/.
We have included 5 worksheets so your students can choose to be guided by one of our prompts or start with a blank canvas when sharing their voice. You can download the file below.
Remember, it is all about broadcasting the voice of a generation so make sure you share your amazing installations with #beavoice and tag @wingaru_education and @mr.j.learning.space
