Planning for 2023
2023. Can you believe it is almost here? For most teachers the end of the school year means planning for the next year is high on your priority list.
Having a plan for when and how you are going to bring Aboriginal perspectives into your classroom is key to making sure these important inclusions don’t get overlooked or lost in the busy day-to-day of the classroom. The Wingaru team have a number of tools to support you to get ready for 2023.
Find opportunities for inclusions in the curriculum – our lesson plans and curriculum guides will help you identify suitable lessons that work with the content you are planning.
Look for teaching opportunities in our list of key First Nations dates. There are a number of important dates each year that are important for all Australians to be aware of and learn about. We have a free calendar of these dates for you to download below. This year we have featured more of Aunty Cindy’s amazing artwork.
Don’t forget to check out the Wingaru Kids teacher login page each month as we showcase a range of inclusions to explore for the month.
We know that including regular Aboriginal perspectives can be overwhelming and in 2023 we are introducing a scope and sequence for each year level that might be of interest if you are looking for ideas. These plans include complete lessons, digital activities and printables as well as activities that encourage you to consider your local community and connect with your local Aboriginal community. The scope and sequence for term 1 will be on the platform soon so keep an eye out in the additional resources section of your dashboard.
A new year also means a new classroom set up. If you are a subscriber, be sure to check out the additional resources section of your dashboard to access our collection of printable classroom décor. The collection is growing and contains posters, birthday calendars, labels, bunting, classroom signs, and number lines just to name a few.
